Outbreak - DivX Version (Normal Quality), iPod/iPhone Version, HD Ready:720p (Super Quality)

OutbreakOutbreak (1995)

IMDB rating: 6.40

Plot: A virus similar to Ebola & Lassa is discovered in Africa in 1969. 25 years later, it resurfaces - and Col. Sam Daniels of the U.S. Army is sent in to investigate it. When he returns he warns his boss, Brigadier-Gen. Ford, of the lethal nature of the virus and wants to put out an alert. Ford, who had been one of the men who first dealt with the virus, insists the virus is contained and unlikely to show up in the U.S. What neither man knows is that the host - a monkey - has been brought into the U.S. by freighter. Through an under-the-table bribe, a young man gets the monkey out of the animal-testing lab it was bound for. Soon, the man is infected - and Col. Daniels’ ex-wife, Dr. Keough - now with the CDC - is called into Boston when the young man is brought to a hospital in critical condition. Dr. Keough discovers that the man has died from the virus, and at the same time - on the other side of the country - a new outbreak is starting in a little California town. A quarantine is set up to stop the virus from spreading, while Ford’s boss, the sinister Major-Gen. McClintock, has his own agenda in mind - to harness this lethal bug for use as a bioweapon. With the President about to order a fuel-air bomb to be dropped on the little town to stop the outbreak, Daniels must find a way to unravel McClintock’s sinister plan…

Joining the Air Force…Need medical clearance advice!?
Alright bare with me. I decided to join the Air Force about 3 months ago. When i first went in to the recruiter I left with a thick application which i filled out and brought back the next day. At the time, I had no medical history whatsoever so that’s how I filled it out. Two months, 12 shots, and one sexual mistake later i find out that i have contracted Herpes. I had no medical insurance so I went to a walk in clinic downtown to get tested and the doctor there told me not to mention the Herpes at all and that they don’t test for it. He was a former military doctor. Basically don’t ask don’t tell.

So now it’s almost time for me to go to MEPS. The doctor said that as long as i don’t have any physical signs of it then I would be fine. Well I don’t and Herpes is in fact, not a disqualifying factor as long as there are no uncontrollable outbreaks. Well, my questions are…

Are they going to ask me about my medical history again once I get to MEPS even if I already filled out this paperwork in the application?

Would it be possible for them to find this info from a clinic even though i had no insurance?

Does MEPS even try to dig this stuff up?

Basically I’m leaning towards following the doc’s advice and going with the don’t ask don’t tell theory…What would you do?

Hmm, i wouldnt totally trust that doctors "dont ask dont tell"….because every year my husband gets tested for everything. AND they really look down on people who arent honest on their applications [my brother in law didnt put that he was in jail before...and almost got kicked out after they realized he didnt include that] honesty is key in the military. and if it isnt a disqualifying facor…why worry??

yes they will tell them you never saw a doctor in your life other wise your recruiter will have to dig up all your medical records no they won’t find out about the clinic i have been there done it just listen to your recruiter normally they will tell you what to say and what not to say good luck

A large percentage of the population has herpes and most don’t realize it. Ever had a cold sore? If you did then you have had the herpes virus. Don’t worry about telling them. The doctor was correct. They will not dig up the info on you and the clinic couldn’t give out your medical information anyway. I was in the Air Force and had to go though a flight physical which is way intense! The don’t tell option is the best. Herpes is NOT a disqualifying factor so don’t worry. I hope your experience in the AF is a good one. It’s the best branch of the service

I’ve been in a similar position to your, and I have been to MEPS

I will give you the benefit of knowing, that MEPS doesn’t and cannot check your medical history/record. You know how many recruits pass by the MEPS building and what not. They only count on what you tell them on the application as far as medical history goes, thats how they nail you. Not only that, they technically dont have a right to check medical history "doctor-patient disclosure agreement" thing.

What they can check is your criminal record, and that’s cause they use the FBI to search you through their large national database and find out if you even have a ticket.

Point blank, when you go to MEPS act dumb, you heard me act dumb like you don’t know anything, not even what herpes is. And you’ll be fine, that military doctor gave you the right advice.

I hate to tell you but so many young military personnel end up contracting and STD or some form of HIV or something from there TECH school days after going 8wks without sex. I think you would be ok. I figure as long as u can control it you would be ok.

and so many people lie at MEPS about past drugs, smoking, drinking abuse, etc. I would keep lid on it. i men, the dont ask dont tell policy goes for beinng gay but i really dont see how herpes at this stae would effect your ability to fight.

but good luck with whatever you decide to do.
